Baxter (also known as Baxter the Dog) is a character in Back at the Barnyard. He is a recurring antagonist to Duke. This short, pointy-eared stray nemesis of the show's resident sheep herding border collie has a problem with mispronouncing many of the characters' names akin to malaprops. He has appeared in three episodes so far. He is Duke's arch-nemesis.
Baxter made his debut in "Doppleganger" at the local animal hospital, switching up orders with Duke, who was in to be given a bath of tomato juice after Skunky sprayed him. Using brown spray paint, he escaped from the hospital unbeknownst to a human disguised Otis and Pig. After Bessy said that she liked the new Duke, Otis is shocked to hear it and says Duke is an imposter in disguise. Only when the real Duke returns from the humiliating treatments after escaping the clinic does Baxter know the jig is up thanks to Skunky, who dislikes Duke.
Baxter returned in "Man's Best Friend" so he wouldn't be lonely after Farmer Buyer is convinced that Duke needed a playmate to keep from being lonely. It all turns out to be a big mistake as his new playmate is Baxter, after tricking two other strays at the Pet Adoption center, and frames him for all the problems in Framer Buyer's house. It's then up to the animals to expose Duke for who he really is by saving the farmer from a bear, but not the one used in Otis' plan.
In the episode "Puppy Love," Baxter returns as the fiancé of Stamps, but Otis overhears about Duke's uncle's priceless bone collection, and that she's next in line following his passing to inherit the whole shebang, and Baxter is in to get the collection after marrying Stamps. Later, Pig disguised himself as Michael Davidson, a former boyfriend to foil the plan, but that fails at a bachelor party even trying to have him chew a couch going awry because Duke is also a couch chewer. In a last-ditch effort, Baxter winds up marrying Stamps, only to discover Duke was in disguise and Stamps breaks up with him. He is

Not much is known about Baxter, but it is said that he has been stealing other dogs' identities and ruining their lives before.
Personality[]
Baxter is very sleazy, sneaky, jealous, greedy, and awful. He stole Duke's identity and put him through a series of painful surgeries at the vet. Then he framed Duke for doing bad things that he did and then tried to get the Farmer killed by a grizzly bear. Finally, his most evil and darkest role was when he seduced Stamps into marrying him. This was all a scam so he could steal Duke and Stamps' uncle's golden dog bones by getting rid of their uncle, then getting rid of Duke (who was next in line to have the bones) and possibly getting rid of Stamps when she inherits them.

Baxter is a Jack Russell Terrier who has a brown spot on his eye and ear and has a brown nose.
Trivia[]
- Baxter seems to have a somewhat short memory as he keeps forgetting everyone's names, no matter how many times they correct him. However, it also implies that he simply doesn't care about names.
- Baxter is currently the last character to be voiced by Kevin McDonald.
